Musarc’s Christmas concert 2014 took place in one of Hawksmoore’s great London churches, and saw the culmination of our year-long collaboration with composers Clay Gold, Eloise Nancie Gynn and Lee Westwood through Sound and Music’s Portfolio Scheme.
The performance opened with lighting a 2m tall beeswax candle by Matthew Dalziel, which was made on site during the day. Before the concert and during the interval, the audience was invited to weave a tapestry on Jessica Smulders Cohen’s Expanded Instrument No. 5, a loom constructed between two columns of the building.
The concert included a screening of Laure Prouvost’s How to make money religiously, a new film firt shown on the occasion of the artist’s show at the New Museum, New York, which features Musarc’s voices.
